Recycling and Waste Management
We practice the 3R principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in all aspects of our business. Anything that cannot be recycled is appropriately disposed of by our approved and certified waste management partners.
Resource Conservation Initiatives
We have invested in a rainwater harvesting system to utilize rainwater efficiently and conserve water usage. Apart from that, our warehouse is fitted with skylights thus, no lighting required during the day to minimize electricity consumption and to reduce our carbon footprint.
We firmly believe in giving back to the community and this has been exemplified by our Founder, SS Leong. He is a Founding & Life member of the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM) and served on their Board of Trustees for 15 years. ADFM is a non-profit organisation set up to promote awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease in Malaysia, to help care for, train and support families, caretakers and those suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Education and Training
At Markaids, we believe that education is an important foundation for our community. However, many are not privileged enough to have sufficient access to education. Markaids believes in giving back to the community through education and training, and contributes to the underprivileged youths of Monfort Boys Town and children with disabilities in Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped (SSMH).
Health and Wellness
Besides education and training, Markaids also supports the National Kidney Foundation Malaysia (NKF) to provide affordable, subsidised dialysis for those with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Most patients come from underprivileged or poor backgrounds, for whom regular dialysis visits would otherwise be unsustainable. For those with Stage 5 diabetes or kidney failure, dialysis is the only thing keeping them alive short of a successful organ transplant.
Fair Labour Practices
Markaids believes in doing our part to provide a fair and safe job environment for our local communities. We vehemently oppose child and forced labour and we have a strict policy to not associate or engage with any businesses or organisations who partake in such activities.
